Unlike elephant safaris, <strong data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"817\">Kaziranga jeep safari timings are flexible<\/strong>, which worked in our favour after reaching late the previous night.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"1040\">This day was about <strong data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"993\">wildlife, real decisions on the ground, and a long Kaziranga to Shillong travel day<\/strong>\u2014nothing rushed, just sequential and realistic.<\/p>\n<h2>Our Original Plan: Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1203\">When planning Day 2, we had initially kept <strong data-start=\"1145\" data-end=\"1185\">both elephant safari and jeep safari<\/strong> on the itinerary.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1241\">A few important facts worth knowing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1315\"><strong data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1282\">Elephant safari happens very early<\/strong>, between <strong data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1315\">6:00 AM and 6:30 AM<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1318\" data-end=\"1346\">There are <strong data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1346\">only two slots<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1442\">It operates in the <strong data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1381\">core zone<\/strong>, mostly around the <strong>Bagori Range<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1487\">These slots are limited and strictly timed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1533\">However, two things influenced our decision:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1601\">We reached Kaziranga <strong data-start=\"1558\" data-end=\"1571\">very late<\/strong>, around <strong data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1601\">11:30 PM\u201312:00 AM<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1605\" data-end=\"1676\">Our kids were <strong data-start=\"1619\" data-end=\"1643\">not very comfortable<\/strong> with the idea of elephant safari<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"1678\" data-end=\"1802\">Based on this, we decided to <strong data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1735\">skip the elephant safari<\/strong> and focus only on the jeep safari, which gave us more flexibility.<\/p>\n<h2>A Comfortable Morning &amp; Breakfast at the Resort<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1861\" data-end=\"1931\">Since we had dropped the elephant safari plan, the morning was calmer.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1935\" data-end=\"1966\">Wake-up around <strong data-start=\"1950\" data-end=\"1966\">6:00\u20136:30 AM<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1969\" data-end=\"1996\">Freshening up without hurry<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1999\" data-end=\"2028\">Breakfast by <strong data-start=\"2012\" data-end=\"2028\">8:30\u20138:45 AM<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2089\">After the previous day\u2019s long travel, this pace felt right.<\/p>\n<h2>Kaziranga Jeep Safari Experience: Timings, Zones &amp; What We Saw<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2163\" data-end=\"2296\">One key thing we learnt during our <strong data-start=\"2198\" data-end=\"2229\">Kaziranga safari experience<\/strong> is that <strong data-start=\"2238\" data-end=\"2295\">jeep safaris are not time-bound like elephant safaris<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2357\">Entry is usually allowed between <strong data-start=\"2333\" data-end=\"2357\">8:00 AM and 10:00 AM<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2398\">Evening slots follow a similar pattern<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2401\" data-end=\"2446\">A jeep safari lasts <strong data-start=\"2421\" data-end=\"2446\">around 2.5 to 3 hours<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2448\" data-end=\"2522\">Jeep safaris operate across <strong data-start=\"2476\" data-end=\"2764\">One very interesting insight we gained\u2014only after experiencing it ourselves\u2014is this:<\/p>\n<h5 data-start=\"2768\" data-end=\"2810\"><strong data-start=\"2768\" data-end=\"2810\">One-horned rhinos are not like tigers.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2814\" data-end=\"2852\">They don\u2019t change locations frequently<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2855\" data-end=\"2884\">They don\u2019t roam unpredictably<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2887\" data-end=\"2937\">Most guides roughly know where they can be spotted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2939\" data-end=\"3019\">Because of this, spotting rhinos in Kaziranga is <strong data-start=\"2988\" data-end=\"3018\">not particularly difficult<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"3021\" data-end=\"3058\">Wildlife We Saw During the Safari<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"3059\" data-end=\"3114\">Almost immediately after entering the zone, we spotted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"3117\" data-end=\"3158\"><strong data-start=\"3117\" data-end=\"3133\">Three rhinos<\/strong>, initially at a distance<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3161\" data-end=\"3232\">Over the course of the safari, we spotted <strong data-start=\"3203\" data-end=\"3232\">rhinos at least ten times<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3235\" data-end=\"3310\">One rhino was especially close\u2014about <strong data-start=\"3272\" data-end=\"3310\">200 metres away across a riverbank<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3312\" data-end=\"3343\">Along with rhinos, we also saw:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li enjoyable.<\/p>\n<h4>Binoculars: Our Honest Take<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"3562\" data-end=\"3603\">We rented binoculars mainly for the kids.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3605\" data-end=\"3634\"><strong data-start=\"3717\" data-end=\"3770\">not a serious wildlife or birdwatching enthusiast<\/strong>, binoculars aren\u2019t really necessary<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3809\" data-end=\"3861\">Rhinos and elephants are easily visible without them<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3864\" data-end=\"3927\">Using binoculars while the jeep is moving is not very practical<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3929\"
