Bonnie Guest House Shillong Review \u2013 Honest Review After a One-Night Stay<\/h1>\n

We stayed at Bonnie Guest House<\/strong> on Day 2 of our Assam\u2013Meghalaya trip and reached the property around 8:00 PM<\/strong>. This review reflects a one-night family stay<\/strong>, focusing on comfort, practicality, and value for money.<\/p>\n

First Impression & Staff<\/h2>\n

From the moment we entered, the guesthouse felt warm and welcoming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

  • Staff was polite, helpful, and approachable<\/li>\n
  • Even when busy, they were responsive and supportive<\/li>\n
  • Overall behaviour felt genuine, not transactional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This was one of the strongest aspects of our stay.<\/p>\n

    Building Layout & Accessibility (Important)<\/h2>\n

    Bonnie Guest House does not have a lift<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Layout:<\/p>\n

    • Ground floor: Restaurant<\/li>\n
    • First floor: Management \/ reception<\/li>\n
    • Rooms are on 2nd, 3rd, and possibly 4th floors<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Total rooms are limited<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      If you:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Have knee issues<\/li>\n
      • Have difficulty climbing stairs<\/li>\n
      • Are travelling with elderly members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \ud83d\udc49 This guesthouse is not suitable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        That said, during checkout, staff helped carry our luggage downstairs<\/strong>, which reduced the inconvenience.<\/p>\n

        Room Experience<\/h2>\n

        Rooms were well done and comfortable<\/strong>, with a slight premium feel compared to our previous stay.<\/p>\n

        • Clean and well-maintained<\/li>\n
        • Mountain-facing room with a nice view of Shillong<\/strong><\/li>\n
        • Washroom was very clean and nicely built<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Minor issues:<\/p>\n

          • Small hole in the bedsheet (informed staff immediately)<\/li>\n
          • Washroom handle had a minor issue but was usable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            None of these affected our stay in a major way.<\/p>\n

            Food & Breakfast Experience<\/h2>\n

            • Serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food<\/strong><\/li>\n
            • If you are a strict pure vegetarian<\/strong>, this may not work for you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              This is not unique to this guesthouse \u2014 it\u2019s a general challenge in Shillong.<\/p>\n

              Breakfast (Weak Point)<\/h3>\n

              Breakfast options were extremely limited<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

              • Either 1 aloo paratha<\/strong>, or<\/li>\n
              • Puri-sabji, or<\/li>\n
              • Bread-jam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                No flexibility, no additional items.
                Even after requesting, the portions were not adjusted.<\/p>\n

                This was the biggest drawback<\/strong> of the stay.<\/p>\n

                Location<\/h2>\n

                • Located in a prime area of Shillong<\/strong><\/li>\n
                • Easy access to main roads and city movement<\/li>\n
                • Room view added to the experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Location-wise, there were no complaints.<\/p>\n

                    Final Verdict<\/h2>\n

                    Bonnie Guest House is a good choice if:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    • You value warm staff and clean rooms<\/li>\n
                    • You want a centrally located stay in Shillong<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Not ideal if:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                      • You need a lift<\/li>\n
                      • You expect a generous breakfast<\/li>\n
                      • You eat only at pure vegetarian kitchens<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
