Bagore Ki Haveli is a beautiful 300-year-old historic haveli located at Gangaur Ghat on the banks of Lake Pichola, in the heart of Udaipur’s Old City. Once a royal residence, it is now a museum showcasing traditional Rajasthani costumes, jewellery, paintings, antiques, and architecture. In the evening, the haveli comes alive with the famous Dharohar Folk Dance Show, featuring colourful Rajasthani music, dance, puppetry, and traditional performances. It is a perfect place to experience Udaipur’s royal heritage and vibrant folk culture in one visit.
This guide covers timings, ticket prices, what to see inside, and how to plan your evening around the famous Dharohar dance show.
🏰 What is Bagore Ki Haveli?
Bagore Ki Haveli is an 18th-century royal haveli (mansion) built by Amar Chand Badwa, who served as the Prime Minister of the Mewar kingdom. Later, Maharaj Shakti Singh of Bagore expanded the haveli and added its distinctive triple-arched gateway in 1878. The building eventually became known as Bagore Ki Haveli, meaning the Haveli of Bagore. Today, this historic mansion has been preserved as a museum and cultural centre, giving visitors a glimpse into the royal lifestyle, architecture, and traditions of Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan government now runs it as a heritage museum. It has over 100 rooms. Inside, you’ll find costumes, jewellery, paintings, and manuscripts tied to Mewar’s royal life, right beside the lake at Gangaur Ghat Udaipur (Incredible India).

🏛️ What to See Inside Bagore Ki Haveli
Take your time while exploring Bagore Ki Haveli, as many of its most interesting details can be missed if you walk through too quickly.
- Mirror & Glasswork: Visit the Queen’s Chamber, known for its beautiful mirror and coloured-glass decoration, which reflects the traditional style of Mewar interiors.
- Jharokhas & Balconies: Look closely at the intricately carved stone jharokhas (projecting balconies) that give the haveli its distinctive Rajasthani appearance.
- Royal Costumes & Jewellery: The collection of traditional clothing and jewellery provides a fascinating glimpse into how members of Rajasthan’s royal and aristocratic families dressed.
- Paintings & Manuscripts: Small galleries display Mewar-era paintings, manuscripts, and historic objects, offering insight into the region’s artistic and cultural traditions.
- Historic Courtyards: Don’t rush through the courtyards. They are an important part of the haveli’s architecture and atmosphere—and one of them transforms into the stage for the evening Dharohar Folk Dance Show.
💡 Tip: Rather than focusing only on the museum displays, look up at the ceilings, balconies, windows, and decorative details—the architecture itself is one of the main attractions.

💃 Dharohar Folk Dance Show
The Dharohar Folk Dance Show is a one-hour evening performance showcasing Rajasthan’s traditional dance, music, and puppetry in the historic courtyard of Bagore Ki Haveli.
- Ghoomar: Graceful traditional Rajasthani circular dance.
- Bhavai: Dancers balance multiple pots on their heads while dancing.
- Terah Taali: Performers play small cymbals called manjiras attached to their bodies.
- Chari Dance: Women dance with decorated brass pots, sometimes carrying flames.
- Kathputli: Traditional Rajasthani string-puppet performance.
✨ Why it’s special: Watching these performances under the open sky, surrounded by the haveli’s old balconies and beautiful architecture, makes the experience feel authentic and memorable.
