Pick up from Srinagar Airport - Srinagar Local Sightseeings

After arrival in Srinagar, meet and greet our representative at the airport. Proceed for a comfortable transfer to your hotel or houseboat for check-in and refreshment. Srinagar is approximately 12 km from the airport to the city center, and it takes around 30 minutes to reach by road.

 

Sightseeing in Srinagar:

  • Dal Lake – Enjoy a scenic Shikara ride (approx. 1 hour) gliding through floating gardens, vibrant markets, and the serene backdrop of the Zabarwan Mountains.
  • Mughal Gardens – Visit Nishat Bagh (“Garden of Bliss”) and Shalimar Bagh (“Abode of Love”), known for their Mughal architecture, terraced lawns, and fountains.
  • Chashme Shahi – A beautiful garden built around a natural spring believed to have medicinal properties.
  • Shankaracharya Temple – Located atop a hill, offering panoramic views of Dal Lake and the entire Srinagar valley.
  • Pari Mahal – Also called the Palace of Fairies, ideal for photography and sunset views.
  • Local Handicraft Emporiums – Explore Kashmiri carpets, papier-mâché, Pashmina shawls, and wooden carvings.

 

After sightseeing, enjoy an evening Shikara ride on Dal Lake at sunset, witnessing the golden reflections on the water — one of Srinagar’s most iconic experiences. Return to your hotel or houseboat for dinner and overnight stay in Srinagar.

Excursion to Gulmarg

After breakfast at your hotel/houseboat in Srinagar, proceed for a full-day excursion to Gulmarg, one of Kashmir’s most scenic hill stations, often called the “Meadow of Flowers.”
The distance from Srinagar to Gulmarg is approximately 53 km, taking about 2 to 2.5 hours by road through rolling meadows, pine forests, and mountain villages.

 

Gulmarg Sightseeings:

  • Gulmarg Gondola Ride:
  • One of the world’s highest cable cars, operating in two phases. Phase 1 (Kongdori Station – 8,530 ft): Offers panoramic views of the valley and lower slopes. ₹740 per person (to/fro). Phase 2 (Apharwat Peak – 13,780 ft): Reaches close to the Line of Control, often covered in snow year-round. ₹950 per person (to/fro). Combo (Phase 1 + 2): Around ₹1,700 per person. It remains open between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (last ride subject to weather).
  • Ticket Booking: Tickets can be booked online in advance through www.jammukashmircablecar.com. It’s advisable to pre-book, especially during weekends or snow season.
  • Golf Course (Seasonal): Asia’s highest green golf course — open from April to November.
  • Snow Activities: Skiing, sledging, and snow scooter rides (charges extra, available in winter months).

 

Important Travel Information (Must Read):

  • Local Taxi Union Restrictions: Private tourist vehicles from Srinagar are not allowed beyond Tangmarg during winter or heavy snowfall. Travellers must hire a local Gulmarg union chained tyred vehicle from Tangmarg to reach Gulmarg town and sightseeing points. ₹1,800–₹3,000 per vehicle (round trip), depending on weather and distance covered.
  • Gandola Parking: Vehicle will be parked at the parking spot and from there we would need to walk around one KM to reach the base point. However vendors would confuse you and incorrectly inform you about the long walk.

 

After sightseeing and leisure time in Gulmarg, drive back to Srinagar in the evening and return to your hotel or houseboat.

Note: All activities in Gulmarg are subject to weather and local union regulations. Gondola tickets are non-refundable once booked. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear are essential even in summer months.

Excursion to Pahalgam

Today's excursion takes you to the picturesque valley of Pahalgam, a jewel in the crown of Jammu and Kashmir. Your journey begins and ends in Srinagar, offering a full day to explore the natural wonders of this stunning region.

 

Begin your day with an early start from Srinagar. The drive to Pahalgam is approximately 95 km, and you can expect the journey to take around 2.5 to 3 hours.

En route, enjoy the following sights:

  • Avantipur Ruins: Explore the remnants of an ancient temple complex dating back to the 8th century.
  • Lidder River: Enjoy glimpses of the gushing Lidder River, a prominent feature of the landscape.

 

Upon arrival in Pahalgam, you'll be captivated by its serene beauty. Known as the 'Valley of Shepherds', Pahalgam is nestled amidst the Himalayas and is a gateway to several trekking routes.

  • Pahalgam Golf Course i.e. Bisaran: Enjoy the scenic beauty of this high-altitude golf course.
  • Aru Valley: A charming meadow accessible by a short drive or pony ride, offering breathtaking views and opportunities for short walks.
  • Betaab Valley: Named after a Bollywood movie, this valley is known for its lush meadows and pine forests.
  • Chandanwari: The starting point for the Amarnath Yatra, offering stunning views of snow-capped mountains.

Spend your afternoon soaking in the tranquility, perhaps enjoying a leisurely walk along the banks of the Lidder River or opting for a pony ride to explore the nearby valleys. The crisp mountain air and the majestic scenery will leave you refreshed.

 

Local Taxi Union Rule:
Taxi vehicles from Srinagar cannot go beyond Pahalgam main parking. For visiting Betaab Valley, , Aru Valley, Chandanwari travellers must hire a local Pahalgam union cab available near the taxi stand. Rates are fixed and can be checked at the bill board.

Sonamarg Excursion

After breakfast at your hotel/houseboat in Srinagar, proceed for a full-day excursion to Sonamarg, famously known as the “Meadow of Gold.” The distance between Srinagar and Sonamarg is approximately 100 km, and the drive takes around 2 ½ hours one way through beautiful countryside, Sindh Valley, and pine forests along the Sindh River.

 

Sonamarg Sightseeings:

  • Thajiwas Glacier: The most famous attraction of Sonamarg, located about 3 km from the main market. It is reachable only by pony ride or local union cab. Pony Ride Cost: ₹800 – ₹1,500 per person (round trip, negotiable - Cost vary quite a lot, so the figure suggested may not work during your visit.). Local Cab Cost: ₹1,500 – ₹2,000 per cab.
  • Zero Point (Baltal): Located near the Zojila Pass at 11,500 ft, offering snow even in summer months.
  • Access: Local union cab from Sonamarg taxi stand. Approx. Cost: ₹5,000 – ₹7,000 per cab (round trip).
  • Baltal Valley: Base point for the Amarnath Yatra; scenic stop en route to Zero Point.
  • Sindh River Viewpoint: Perfect spot for photography or light refreshment breaks.
