Manali to Losar (via Atal Tunnel, Batal, Kunzum Pass)

Start Early (6:00 AM) from Manali. Cross Atal Tunnel into Lahaul. Drive along the Chandra River via Gramphu and Chatru. Stop at Chhatru or Batal for tea/snacks. Visit Chacha-Chachi Dhaba at Batal (iconic Himalayan stop). Cross the Kunzum La Pass (4,551 m). Reach Losar village by late afternoon/evening.

Scenic Journey from Losar to Chandratal via Kunzum Pass - Enjoy a Day of Trekking and Photography

Lazy morning at Losar. Depart after breakfast. Return over Kunzum Pass and take the turn to Chandrataal Lake. Last 15 km to lake is off-road – drive slowly and carefully. Reach Chandrataal Lake by noon. Trek around the lake, enjoy the views, photography. Rest at Chandrataal campsites (4 km before the lake – camping not allowed at the lake itself)

The journey to Jispa is approximately 140 km and will take around 5-6 hours, depending on road conditions and stops. This route is renowned for its dramatic landscapes and high-altitude passes.

En route, you will traverse:

Baralacha La Pass: A high mountain pass at 4,890 meters (16,040 ft), offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and vast, barren terrain.
Keylong: The administrative headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, a significant stop for refueling and experiencing local culture.

Upon arrival in Jispa, check into your accommodation. Jispa is a serene village nestled along the Bhaga River, offering a peaceful respite amidst stunning Himalayan scenery.

After arriving in Jispa, explore:

Jispa Monastery: A small, peaceful monastery offering insights into local Buddhist traditions.
