Himachal pradesh 6 Days 5 Nights Tour Itinerary: Amritsar to Dalhousie via Mcleodganj

Arrive Amritsar, transfer to hotel and check in. Visit the Golden Temple and later visit the massacre of Jalian Wallan Bagh. Afternoon little free time to rest and evening around 3 PM drive to Wagah Border to see the Closing Ceremony, event starts exactly by 5.30 PM everyday. Border closing 'lowering of the flags' ceremony is a daily military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan.This ceremony takes place every evening before sunset at the Wagah border, which as part of the Grand Trunk Road was the only road link between these two countries before the opening of the Aman Setu in Kashmir in 1999. The ceremony starts with a blustering parade by the soldiers from both the sides and ends up in the perfectly coordinated lowering of the two nations flags, it is called the beating retreat border ceremony on the international level. One infantryman (Jawan) stands at attention on each side of the gate. As the sun sets, the iron gate at the border is opened and the flags are lowered. The flags are folded and the ceremony ends with a retreat that involves a brusque handshake between soldiers from either side. Return back to Hotel and Overnight

Your journey begins in Amritsar. After your pick-up, embark on a scenic drive towards the picturesque hill station of Mcleodganj. The distance between Amritsar and Mcleodganj is approximately 200 km, and the travel time is about 5-6 hours, depending on road conditions.

 

Upon arrival in Mcleodganj, check into your hotel. The rest of your day is dedicated to exploring the serene beauty and unique culture of this charming hill town.

Explore Mcleodganj:

• Tsuglagkhang Complex: The spiritual and administrative headquarters of the Dalai Lama, featuring the main temple, Namgyal Monastery, and the Dalai Lama's residence.
• Bhagsu Waterfall: A popular spot for a refreshing dip and a pleasant hike, surrounded by lush greenery.
• Dal Lake: A small, serene lake offering a peaceful escape and beautiful views, often visited for its tranquility.
• St. John in the Wilderness Church: An impressive neo-Gothic church set amidst deodar trees, known for its historical significance and architecture.

(If you want to do some small trek, you can hire a guide to go Triund Trek.) Today post breakfast, we would cover Saint John in the Wilderness Church, Namgyal Monastery, Tibet Museum. Post late lunch we would head for Sunset Point. After an exciting tour of Dhauladhar Ranges, we would be returning to Mcleodganj. We will cover the sights that are still remaining including Bhagsu Nag temple, Bhagsu Nag Waterfalls, The Church, Dharamsala Stadium, Kunal pathri temple, Tea gardens, War memorial, and Tirlokinath temple. stop over at Dal Lake.

Begin your day in Mcleodganj. After enjoying your morning, check out from your hotel. Ensure all Mcleodganj sights you wish to see are completed before departing.

 

The journey to Dalhousie is approximately 115 km and will take around 3.5 to 4 hours of driving time.

 

Upon arrival in Dalhousie, check into your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the charming hill station.

Sightseeing in Dalhousie:

• Subhash Baoli: A picturesque spot with a spring, believed to have therapeutic properties, surrounded by pine trees.
• St. Francis Church: One of the oldest churches in the region, showcasing colonial architecture and a serene ambiance.

Begin your day in the picturesque hill station of Dalhousie. After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a captivating journey to Khajjiar, often referred to as the "Mini Switzerland of India." The drive from Dalhousie to Khajjiar is approximately 24 km and takes about 1 hour.

 

• Khajjiar Lake: A stunning, saucer-shaped lake surrounded by lush meadows and dense deodar forests.
