Today our vehicle will pick you early in the morning and take you towards Narkanda. On the way enjoy the views while you travel through Kufri, Fagu and Theog. Overnight stay at Camps/Hotel.

Narkanda → Sangla

Narkanda to Sangla - Scenic 155 km Journey via Rampur Valley and Sarahan

Before beginning your drive, ensure any remaining sights in Narkanda, such as the panoramic views from Hatu Peak (if not visited previously), are completed. Today, embark on a picturesque journey from Narkanda towards the stunning Sangla Valley, a drive renowned for its dramatic landscapes and cultural stops.

 

Your first leg takes you from Narkanda to the spiritual town of Sarahan, approximately 90 km away, which will take around 3 to 3.5 hours due to winding mountain roads. The route descends through verdant hillsides, offering glimpses of the Sutlej River valley.

 

En route to Sarahan, consider these stops:

  • Sarahan: Visit the iconic Bhimakali Temple, a magnificent example of Himachali architecture and a revered Shakti Peeth. Explore its intricate woodwork and spiritual ambiance.

 

After your visit to Sarahan, continue your onward journey to Sangla, covering the remaining 65 km, which will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. This part of the drive is particularly scenic as you enter the Kinnaur Valley.

En route to Sangla from Sarahan:

  • Wangtu Bridge: Pause for a photo opportunity at this impressive bridge spanning the Sutlej River, marking your entry into the more rugged terrain of Kinnaur.
  • Karcham: Witness the confluence of the Sutlej and Baspa rivers and catch views of the massive Karcham-Wangtoo Hydroelectric Project from the road.

Sangla → Kalpa

Sangla to Kalpa - Explore Kamru Fort, Rakcham & Chitkul

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Sangla. Before departing, ensure that any remaining sightseeing in Sangla is completed, as no sights will be revisited. Begin your scenic journey towards Kalpa via the breathtaking Baspa Valley region.
 

The distance between Sangla and Kalpa is approximately 50 km, and it would take around 3 to 4 hours to reach by road, excluding sightseeing stops.

En-route Sightseeing:

  • Kamru Fort – Historic fort known for traditional Kinnauri architecture and ancient temple structures.
  • Batseri Village – Charming wooden village surrounded by apple orchards and mountain scenery.
  • Chitkul Mata Temple – Traditional local temple reflecting Kinnauri wooden craftsmanship.

 

Continue your drive towards Kalpa via Reckong Peo, the district headquarters of Kinnaur. Kalpa is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,758 meters, and is famous for panoramic views of the sacred Kinner Kailash Range. During sunrise and sunset, the snow-covered peaks glow beautifully with golden and crimson hues. Upon arrival in Kalpa, check in to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Kalpa → Kaza

Kalpa to Kaza - Scenic Journey through Nako, Gue, and Tabo Monasteries

Wake up to the morning view in the town of Kalpa. Today we will head towards Tabo via Nako village. We will stop at Nako village where you can see the famous Nako lake. After a short halt in Nako village head towards Tabo via Gue Village. The Gue village is famous for the Gue mummy which is a naturally mummified body of a Budhist Monk in a meditating position. Explore the monastery and after Gue head towards Tabo. The Tabo Monastery is one of the famous monasteries in Spiti Valley. Tabo village is also famous for its caves (Tabo caves) which can be seen from the village. These caves are used by the monks for meditation and other purposes. Drive further to Kaza , check in the stay , dinner & overnight at Kaza.

Tabo → Kaza

Tabo to Kaza - Visit Historic Dhankar Monastery and Scenic Pin Valley

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Tabo. Before departing, ensure that any remaining sightseeing in Tabo is completed, as no sights will be revisited.

 

Begin your scenic journey towards Kaza, the administrative headquarters of Spiti Valley.
The distance between Tabo and Kaza via Dhankar & Pin Valley is approximately 85 km, and it would take around 4 to 6 hours to reach, depending on sightseeing stops and road conditions.

 

En-route Sightseeing:

  • Dhankar Monastery – Historic cliff-top monastery offering breathtaking views of the Spiti and Pin River confluence.
  • Dhankar Village – Traditional Himalayan settlement known for dramatic mountain landscapes.

Your first destination is the iconic Key Monastery, perched dramatically on a hilltop overlooking the Spiti River. The journey from Kaza to Key Monastery is approximately 15 km and takes about 30 minutes.

From Key Monastery, continue your journey to Kibber Village, a short drive of about 8 km, taking approximately 15 minutes. Kibber was once the highest motorable village in the world.

First, head towards the iconic Key Monastery. This drive from Kaza is approximately 12 km and takes around 30-40 minutes, offering breathtaking views of the Spiti River.

 

Highlights of Your Day:

  • Key Monastery (Ki Gompa): Perched majestically atop a hill, this is the largest and most famous monastery in the Spiti Valley. Explore its ancient temples, intricate murals, and collection of rare thangkas, and soak in the serene monastic life.

 

After an enriching visit, continue your drive towards the villages of Langza and Komic. The journey from Key Monastery, often via parts of the Kaza road, to Langza is approximately 25-30 km and can take about 1 to 1.5 hours due to the winding mountain roads.

Begin your day in Kaza. After a hearty breakfast. The drive from Kaza to Tabo is approximately 35 km, taking around 1.5 hours. This scenic route offers breathtaking views of the Spiti River and the rugged mountain terrain.

En route, visit the following significant attraction:

  • Dhankar Monastery: Perched precariously on a cliff edge, Dhankar Monastery is a spectacular sight. Explore its ancient prayer halls and soak in the panoramic views of the valley below. This historic monastery was once the capital of the Spiti Kingdom.

Upon arrival in Tabo, check into your hotel. After settling in, you can explore the renowned Tabo Monastery.

Sightseeing in Tabo:

Post Breakfast check out from Tabo Hotel and drive to Sarahan via Ribba , Reckong peo , will take around 7-8 hrs to reach at location , on arrival check in the hotel , if time permoits visit Beema Kali Maa Ancient Temple .dinner and overnight stay .

Sarahan → Chandigarh

Sarahan to Chandigarh - Scenic Departure from Spiti Valley

Begin your day with an early breakfast at your hotel in Sarahan. If you haven't yet, take a final moment to visit the revered Bhimakali Temple before checking out and commencing your journey. This iconic temple is a masterpiece of Himalayan architecture and a spiritual highlight of the region.

 

Set out for Chandigarh, approximately 270-300 km away, with an estimated travel time of around 8-9 hours, depending on road conditions and stops. This scenic route will take you through changing landscapes, from the serene mountains of Kinnaur to the bustling foothills of Himachal Pradesh.
