Chandigarh To Narkanda

Today our vehicle will pick you early in the morning and take you towards Narkanda. On the way enjoy the views while you travel through Kufri, Fagu and Theog. Overnight stay at Camps/Hotel.

Narkanda → Sangla

Narkanda to Sangla - Scenic 155 km Journey via Rampur Valley and Sarahan

Before beginning your drive, ensure any remaining sights in Narkanda, such as the panoramic views from Hatu Peak (if not visited previously), are completed. Today, embark on a picturesque journey from Narkanda towards the stunning Sangla Valley, a drive renowned for its dramatic landscapes and cultural stops.

 

Your first leg takes you from Narkanda to the spiritual town of Sarahan, approximately 90 km away, which will take around 3 to 3.5 hours due to winding mountain roads. The route descends through verdant hillsides, offering glimpses of the Sutlej River valley.

 

En route to Sarahan, consider these stops:

  • Sarahan: Visit the iconic Bhimakali Temple, a magnificent example of Himachali architecture and a revered Shakti Peeth. Explore its intricate woodwork and spiritual ambiance.

 

After your visit to Sarahan, continue your onward journey to Sangla, covering the remaining 65 km, which will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. This part of the drive is particularly scenic as you enter the Kinnaur Valley.

En route to Sangla from Sarahan:

  • Wangtu Bridge: Pause for a photo opportunity at this impressive bridge spanning the Sutlej River, marking your entry into the more rugged terrain of Kinnaur.
  • Karcham: Witness the confluence of the Sutlej and Baspa rivers and catch views of the massive Karcham-Wangtoo Hydroelectric Project from the road.

 

Upon arrival in Sangla, check into your accommodation and unwind. The evening is free to explore this beautiful valley. Nestled beside the Baspa River, Sangla is famous for its natural beauty and unique culture.

In Sangla, explore these charming attractions:

  • Kamru Fort: A multi-storied tower-like fort with a rich history and a temple dedicated to Kamakshi Devi.
  • Bering Nag Temple: An important local temple dedicated to Lord Jagas, offering insights into local religious practices.
  • Sangla Meadow (Batseri Village): Take a leisurely stroll through the lush green meadows alongside the Baspa River, soaking in the serene mountain views.

Sangla → Kalpa

Sangla to Kalpa - Explore Kamru Fort, Rakcham & Chitkul

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Sangla. Before departing, ensure that any remaining sightseeing in Sangla is completed, as no sights will be revisited. Begin your scenic journey towards Kalpa via the breathtaking Baspa Valley region.
 

The distance between Sangla and Kalpa is approximately 50 km, and it would take around 3 to 4 hours to reach by road, excluding sightseeing stops.

En-route Sightseeing:

  • Kamru Fort – Historic fort known for traditional Kinnauri architecture and ancient temple structures.
  • Batseri Village – Charming wooden village surrounded by apple orchards and mountain scenery.
  • Chitkul Mata Temple – Traditional local temple reflecting Kinnauri wooden craftsmanship.

 

Continue your drive towards Kalpa via Reckong Peo, the district headquarters of Kinnaur. Kalpa is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,758 meters, and is famous for panoramic views of the sacred Kinner Kailash Range. During sunrise and sunset, the snow-covered peaks glow beautifully with golden and crimson hues. Upon arrival in Kalpa, check in to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Kalpa → Tabo

Kalpa to Tabo - Scenic Journey through Nako and Desert-Mountains

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Kalpa. Before departing, ensure that any remaining sightseeing in Kalpa is completed, as no sights will be revisited. Begin your adventurous drive towards Tabo, entering the spectacular cold-desert landscapes of Spiti Valley.


The distance between Kalpa and Tabo is approximately 165 km, and it would take around 6 to 8 hours to reach by road, depending on road conditions and sightseeing stops.

 

During the journey, witness the gradual transition from the lush green valleys of Kinnaur to the barren Himalayan desert terrain of Spiti.

En-route Sightseeing:

  • Khab Sangam – Scenic confluence point of the Sutlej and Spiti Rivers.
  • Nako Village – Traditional Himalayan village known for its peaceful atmosphere and mud-house architecture.
  • Nako Lake – Serene high-altitude lake surrounded by willow trees and mountains.
  • Nako Monastery – Ancient Buddhist monastery with spiritual and historical significance.
  • Gue Village – Remote Himalayan village famous for the naturally preserved 500-year-old mummy of a Buddhist monk.

Continue your drive towards Tabo. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Tabo → Kaza

Explore Tabo to Kaza - Visit Tabo Monastery, Dhankar Village & Scenic Pin Valley

We start the day with a visit to the Tabo monastery - the oldest continuously functioning monastery in India. If time permits, we can climb up the stairs in the mountain behind the monastery to see the famous meditation caves of Tabo. We then head to Dhankar. Perched high above the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers, in a hidden bowl, is the tiny hamlet of Dhankar. We will visit the old monastery here (if open). The view of the valley from the village is not to be missed. We then head to Pin Valley National Park. Imagine a national park with an abundance of animals and birds, with some rare plant varieties, a river that gushes when it isn’t frozen and trekking opportunities for the adventure-seekers. The Pin Valley promises all this and more. We make our way to Kaza by late afternoon and check-in to our hotel. Overnight at a hotel in Kaza.

Today's Itinerary:

  • Morning: Begin your day in Kaza after a hearty breakfast.
  • En route to Langza: Drive approximately 15 km to Langza, a journey taking about 30 minutes.
  • Langza Village: Explore the picturesque village, famous for its ancient monastery and the chance to find fossils.
  • En route to Hikkim: Continue your journey to Hikkim, a short drive of about 10 km, taking roughly 20 minutes.
  • Hikkim Village: Visit the world's highest post office and send a postcard to a loved one.
  • En route to Komik: Proceed to Komik, another 10 km drive, approximately 20 minutes.
  • Komik Village: Discover Komik, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, and visit the vibrant Komik Monastery.
  • Return to Kaza: Begin your scenic drive back to Kaza, a journey of about 25 km, taking around 40 minutes.
  • Evening: Arrive back in Kaza, reflecting on the incredible sights and experiences of the day.

Kaza → Chandar Tal

Kaza to Chandratal - Scenic Journey to Chandra Tal with Chicham Bridge Visit

Today after breakfast head towards the famous Chandratal Lake and visit the Chicham Bridge on the way just 5 kms from Kibber. The Chicham Bridge is one of the highest (Altitude) bridges in Asia and is situated 5 kms ahead of Kibber village. Chandra Tal lake is situated at a distance of 85-90 km from Kaza and is said to be the source of the Chandra river. On the way, you’ll cross the famous Kunzum Pass. Spend some time near the Kunzum Mata Temple situated on the top of the pass and head towards Chandratal Lake. Enjoy some quality time near the lake. Camping is not allowed near the lake so the overnight stay would be 2 kms below the lake at our Campsite.

Chandar Tal → Manali

Chandratal to Manali - Scenic Return via Kunzum pass, Atal Tunnel & Solang Valley

Today's adventure takes you from the serene shores of Chandratal Lake to the vibrant town of Manali, traversing breathtaking mountain passes and engineering marvels.

 

Begin your day with an early morning checkout from your accommodation near Chandratal Lake. Ensure all desired sights in the Chandratal vicinity have been explored before commencing your journey.

 

The drive from Chandratal to Manali is approximately 150 km and will take around 6-7 hours, depending on road conditions and stops.

En route, you will pass through:

  • Kunzum Pass: Experience the panoramic views from this high mountain pass, a gateway to the Spiti Valley.
  • Atal Tunnel: Traverse this engineering marvel, significantly reducing travel time and offering a unique underground experience.
  • Solang Valley: Famous for its adventure sports like paragliding and zorbing, offering spectacular mountain scenery.

Upon reaching Manali, check into your hotel. Enjoy your evening in Manali, perhaps exploring the Mall Road for local crafts and cuisine. (Vehicle is not available)

Manali → Chandigarh

Return Home from Chandigarh & Visit Naggar Castle On The Way

Today marks your return journey from Manali to Chandigarh, with a captivating stop at Naggar Castle en route. Ensure you have completed any remaining Manali sightseeing before your departure.

 

Begin your day with a scenic drive from Manali to Naggar Castle. The distance is approximately 20 km, taking about 45 minutes to 1 hour. This historic castle offers panoramic views of the Kullu Valley.

 

Spend your morning exploring the architectural marvel of Naggar Castle. Wander through its ancient courtyards, admire the traditional Himachali artwork, and soak in the breathtaking vistas. This is your primary sightseeing stop for the day.

 

After your visit to Naggar Castle, embark on the longer leg of your journey towards Chandigarh. The total distance from Naggar to Chandigarh is approximately 250 km, with an estimated travel time of 7 to 8 hours.

 

While the direct route from Naggar to Chandigarh is primarily focused on reaching your destination, the journey itself offers glimpses of the picturesque landscapes of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

 

You would be directly transferred to Chandigarh Airport or Railway Station as per your onward journey.
