Travel to Diglipur Via Baratang

Embark on an exhilarating full-day journey from Port Blair to the northern reaches of Diglipur, venturing through the unique landscapes of the Andaman Islands. Begin your day with an early start from Port Blair, completing your hotel checkout. It's advisable to finish any last-minute sightseeing in Port Blair before commencing this long but rewarding travel day.

 

Your adventure first takes you from Port Blair to Baratang Island. This leg of the journey covers approximately 105 km and typically takes around 3.5 to 4 hours, including the necessary ferry crossing and convoy through the protected Jarawa Tribal Reserve. Please note the convoy timings are fixed and must be adhered to.

 

En route, experience the natural wonders of Baratang:

  • Limestone Caves: A fascinating geological formation reached by a thrilling boat ride through mangrove creeks, followed by a short trek through the jungle.
  • Mud Volcano: Witness this small, natural phenomenon where semi-liquid mud and natural gases are emitted from the earth.

 

After exploring Baratang and perhaps grabbing a local lunch, you will continue your journey towards Diglipur. The second leg, from Baratang to Diglipur, spans approximately 90 km and requires another 3 to 3.5 hours of scenic driving.

 

Upon your evening arrival in Diglipur, check into your chosen accommodation. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax after the extensive travel.

 

Once settled in Diglipur, consider these light activities for your arrival evening:

Ross & Smith Island

In the morning, we would head to catch the ferry to Ross and Smith Island. Ferry is a small motor boat who can carry 10 people a time. After reaching to the island, you can enjoy the most beautiful beaches of the island, and in the afternoon when the tides are low you can see the 2 islands meeting with one another and visit the islands on foot. Apart from the twin island, you can visit Lamiya Bay Beach, Kalipur Beach, & Turtle Nesting Ground.

Diglipur → Port Blair

Diglipur to Port Balir

We will start from Diglipur as instructed by your driver. On the way we would visit Karmatang Beach, Mangrove Walkway Dhanih Nallah, & baludera Beach and return to Port Blair. Please note that we can not confirm the visit, places mentioned, as of now, it would depend on the ground realities in Andaman.
