Meet and Greet and Madurai Sightseeings

On arrival at Madurai Airport, meet and greet our representative who will assist with your transfer and sightseeing. Madurai is known for its ancient temples, vibrant streets, and rich Tamil heritage.

 

Madurai Sightseeings:

  • Meenakshi Amman Temple: Iconic Dravidian-style temple dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareshwarar.
  • Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal: Historic palace known for its grand pillars and courtyard.
  • Gandhi Memorial Museum: Museum showcasing Mahatma Gandhi’s life and India’s freedom journey.

Note: Sightseeing in Madurai will be covered based on your arrival time and temple timings. Meenakshi Temple typically closes in the afternoon (12 PM–4 PM), so plan visits accordingly.

Madurai → Rameshwaram

Post Breakfast head to Rameshwaram from Madurai

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Madurai. Complete any remaining sightseeing in Madurai before departure. The distance between Madurai and Rameshwaram is approximately 175 km, taking around 3.5–4 hours by road. Enjoy a scenic drive through rural Tamil Nadu as you make your way to the sacred island town of Rameshwaram, an important pilgrimage destination for devotees of Lord Shiva and part of the Char Dham circuit.

 

En Route Sightseeing (Optional):

  • Pamban Bridge Viewpoint: Stop for a photo session as you cross India’s first sea bridge offering spectacular ocean views.

 

On arrival in Rameshwaram, check in to your hotel and later proceed to explore the town based on available time.

Rameshwaram Sightseeings (if time permits):

  • Ramanathaswamy Temple: Renowned Jyotirlinga temple known for its long corridor and sacred theerthams.
  • Agnitheertham: Sacred seashore where pilgrims take a holy dip before temple darshan.
  • Local Market Visit: Explore shops selling conch items, seashell crafts, and local souvenirs.

 

Note: Sightseeing in Rameshwaram will be covered based on arrival time. Early check-in may allow a temple visit on the same day. All the sights will be covered only once during your entire stay in Rameshwaram even if sights are listed multiple times.

Rameshwaram → Kanyakumari

Post Breakfast head to Kanyakumari from Rameshwaram

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Rameshwaram. Before leaving, complete any remaining sightseeing points in Rameshwaram.

 

Once done, proceed to Kanyakumari, which is about 310 km away and takes roughly 6 hours by road

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and begin exploring the coastal charm of Kanyakumari, the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean.

 

Major sightseeing points in Kanyakumari:

  • Vivekananda Rock Memorial – Accessible by ferry, dedicated to Swami Vivekananda.
  • Thiruvalluvar Statue – Iconic stone monument honoring the Tamil poet and philosopher.

Kanyakumari → Kovalam

Kanyakumari Sightseeing and Head to Kovalam

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Kanyakumari. Before leaving, make sure to complete any pending sightseeing in Kanyakumari. Begin your journey towards Kovalam, one of Kerala’s most scenic beach destinations. The distance between Kanyakumari and Kovalam is approximately 90 km, and the journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours by road.

 

En route, visit the following attraction:

  • Poovar Island – A peaceful backwater paradise where the Neyyar River meets the Arabian Sea. Enjoy a beautiful backwater cruise through mangroves, golden sand beaches, and quiet lagoons.

 

Upon arrival in Kovalam, check in to your hotel and proceed to explore the major sights.

 

Sightseeing in Kovalam:

  • Lighthouse Beach – The most famous beach in Kovalam, known for its towering red lighthouse and stunning panoramic views.
  • Hawa Beach (Eve’s Beach) – A quieter beach ideal for relaxation and short walks along the coastline.
  • Samudra Beach – A serene, less crowded beach known for its rocky shoreline and peaceful ambience.

Trivendrum Day Excursion

After breakfast at 9:00 AM, begin your full-day sightseeing tour of Thiruvananthapuram, a city known for its temples, palaces, museums, and rich cultural heritage.

 

Thiruvananthapuram Local Sightseeing

  • Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of India’s most sacred Vishnu temples. Only Hindus are allowed to enter, and the dress code here is strictly enforced. Men must wear a mundu/dhoti without shirts or pants, while women must wear a saree, half-saree, or long skirt with blouse; salwar suits are accepted only if a mundu is tied over them. The temple typically remains open from 3:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, though timings may vary on festival days. Phones, cameras, handbags, and electronic items are not permitted inside and must be deposited at the counters.
  • Kuthiramalika Palace Museum, known for its exquisite carved wooden horses and royal exhibits. The entry fee here is ₹40, and it remains open from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with Monday as a holiday.
  • Napier Museum, famous for its Indo-Saracenic architecture and impressive collection of artifacts, open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, also closed on Mondays
  • Sri Chitra Art Gallery, which houses precious works including Raja Ravi Varma paintings, Tanjore art, Mughal art, and Kerala mural pieces. The entry fee is ₹400, and it remains open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Monday as a holiday.
  • Attukal Bhagavathy Temple, popularly known as the “Women’s Sabarimala.” This temple is open throughout the day, offers free entry, and observes short breaks during pooja timings.

 

Please note that all the sights will be covered only once even if they are mentioned multiple times in the itinerary.

Kovalam → Madurai

Return to your hometown with unlimited Memories (Madurai or Thiruvanthpuram)

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and prepare for your departure. Depending on your itinerary and flight/train schedule, you will be transferred to Madurai Airport/Railway Station or Thiruvananthapuram Airport for your onward journey. If any pending sightseeing or short visits remain in the respective city, they can be covered today based on the available time before you proceed for your departure formalities.
