The distance from Jaipur to Jaisalmer is approximately 570 kilometers, and the drive typically takes around 9 to 10 hours.

We recommend an early start from Jaipur to make the most of your day on the road and allow for comfortable arrival in Jaisalmer.

 

Upon arrival in Jaisalmer in the late afternoon or early evening, check into your hotel. After a long day of travel, you might wish to relax and refresh. Depending on your arrival time and energy levels, here are a few suggested activities for your evening:

Evening in Jaisalmer:

  • Gadisar Lake: A tranquil artificial lake that once served as the sole water source of Jaisalmer. Relax by the ghats, especially beautiful during sunset. Its historical chattris and temples reflect in the water, creating a picturesque scene.
  • Jaisalmer Fort (Exterior view and surrounding markets): While a full exploration of the fort requires more time, an evening stroll around its base allows you to soak in the magnificent golden glow of the fort against the twilight sky. The bustling markets outside the fort come alive in the evening, perfect for a glimpse into local life and perhaps some souvenir shopping.
  • Local Dinner: Indulge in traditional Rajasthani cuisine at one of Jaisalmer's rooftop restaurants, offering stunning views of the illuminated Jaisalmer Fort.

After breakfast Proceed for sightseeing tour of The Golden City - Jaisalmer. 
Visit the 12th century magnificent fort at Jaisalmer. 
Also visit the beautifully and magnificently carved Havelis of Salim Singh ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli and Gadhi Sagar Tank, followed by a visit to the Bara bagh.

Head to Camp via Tanot Mata Temple and Longewala Border

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Jaisalmer. Before departing, ensure that any remaining sightseeing in Jaisalmer is completed, as no sights will be revisited. Begin your journey towards your Desert Camp.


The distance between Jaisalmer and Tanot Mata Temple is approximately 120 km, taking around 2 to 2.5 hours, and From Tanot to Longewala, the distance is roughly 35 km, taking 45 minutes to 1 hour. Finally, the distance between Longewala and the Jaisalmer Desert Camp region is approximately 45–55 km, taking 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the camp location.

 

Enroute Sightseeing:

  • Tanot Mata Temple – Sacred temple associated with the Indo-Pak War of 1965 and miraculous unexploded bombs.
  • Longewala War Memorial & Border Post – Famous battleground of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, featuring museums, bunkers, and documentary showcases.
  • Kuldhara – The Abandoned Village

 

Afternoon: Check in to the Desert Camp at Sam Sand Dunes.
